All told July went by in a snap. We didn’t get to hike as much as I’d hoped because of how busy we were hosting and wanting to show the visitors the highlights, but that’s not to say we didn’t have a great time and take great pictures!
Haunts Nearby
The first few weeks in July were spent nearby and preparing for the guests we had on the way. Sophie and I did make an effort to get out and explore some nearby locations which was nice – but we didn’t go anywhere too exciting.
Sunrise On The Classic Trail
Eventually – we did have guests and we got after it again. I took my folks on a hike towards Emerald Lake in RMNP. It was a wonderful morning – and the light was divine (even if it was so nice in part because of the sunlight being filtered through the smoke).
Blue Sky Sunrise
Later during that visit we did a sunrise on Mt. Blue Sky. We stopped to view it from the Mt. Goliath Nature Area and it was gorgeous.
When we had arrived it was raining and we didn’t expect much to materialize in the way of light or sun. But we were proven incredibly wrong. The sunrise was outstanding.
While the sunrise was incredible that morning, the macro photography later on the trail while hiking around Echo Lake was equally enjoyable. The last photo in particular I adore – I love the color of the scene and the detail in the blossoming flower.
Macro Flat Irons
On their final full-day in Colorado I took my folks on a nice long walk out on the prairie. It was incredibly relaxing – and they both enjoyed themselves. I loved photographing these flowers, I believe Sophie said their name was the “Blue Dandelions”.
