It’s been a great week being a Boston Sports fan.
Before, I talk about the celebration I need to explain the circumstance. After the disappointing loss Friday the week before, I was excited to watch the fifth game of the NBA finals. It would decide if we were going to win the 18th banner or if we’d lose momentum to the Mavericks once again. GOD did the Celtics deliver.
I watched the game from my house just a few blocks from the Garden, and all night long I could hear the chanting through the neighborhood of people screaming with the TV at every shot Kyrie made. I could feel the excitement as the game progressed and people began to realize that it might be happening. We might be locking in the victory.
Then the final buzzer blared and the streamers started falling. I stuck my head out the window along with many of my neighbors and screamed to celebrate the victory. After that I threw on some shoes, grabbed my camera, and sprinted to the Garden it was time to celebrate.
The crowd was all encompassing and the feeling was electric. Thousands of people flocked to see and celebrate what had just happened. It was an absolutely incredible way to end the final basketball season I’d watch while living in Boston.
I managed to snag quite a few images that night that I like. However the best one I got is without contest the first one in this article. Everything about it is PHENOMENAL. The lighting on the subject, the emotion on his face, the banner just barely showing what the crowd is celebrating. To boot the subject is brilliantly framed by the rest of the composition. In all it’s an incredible image to have walked away from as a memory of that night.
In this secondary image from the night, we get a far more complete picture of the scene that was unfolding in front of me. We see the flag in all of its glory with my favorite aspect of the image. The masking tape used to make the 2008 24 come to life.
I did take some images of the parade that were nice – however none of them blew me away in the same way that these two images did. If you want to see them leave a comment and maybe I’ll upload them after all.
Until then – I’ll see you in Titletown, USA.
