Back in the beginning of September right after our arrival in Colorado we did a lovely trip out to Rocky Mountain National Park and did a hike that Sophie had done before but I’d never had the pleasure of doing.
We hiked towards the loch. It was a long and grueling hike (given we were out of shape and still very much acclimating to the altitude) but my GOD was the pay off worth it! Along the way too we were treated to phenomenal images. This image on the right is one that I loved snapping. Not a portfolio image surely, but a nice image none the less.
The tones in the panoramic image of the loch however I adore. They’re soft, warm, and inviting. It represents how we felt finally taking off our packs and sitting by the waters edge. It was a stunning vista to check out – and one that we were happy to have (seemingly) to ourselves.
Eventually though it was time to face the music and we began our descent. The walk down was faster than the one up – but no less enjoyable.
The sun had risen more and was throwing the whole valley we hiked through into different light than it had been in beforehand. The scene below would not have been possible to shoot handheld earlier on in the day when were deep in shadow and shade.
All in all – it was a phenomenal “inauguratory” hike to RMNP. Little did I know how much more fun I’d be having in this park over the coming weekends.
