Quick Recap 2 (Photo Of The Week 30, 2024)

In the second of a few quick recaps to get back caught up - we look at an old image from January 2020. This was one of the few images of Boston I'd taken right before the onset of COVID and the lockdowns.

This was a fun image to edit. I remember when I had taken it that I loved the shadowy background – but I went all in during the edit to make the blacks in this scene as black as they could possibly be.

I focused on having a contrast between the negative space – and really only having a small set of colors that make up the actual image – hints of blue in the shadowy parts of the white metal and the light orange / brown tones of the trash receptacle.

Overall, I think this is a nice image – and one I really enjoy looking at. I don’t think it would any awards but that’s all right. That’s not why I shot it. I shot it to remember a moment exploring Downtown Boston with my friend Jake.
