Long Exposure Waterfall
Oh how I miss the Colombia river gorge. After I was turned off of visiting North Cascades National Park – I ended up going to Oregon. After a visit to Canon Beach – the next few days were spent exploring the Colombia River Gorge.
The most famous set of falls in the area are those at Multnomah falls – while I did visit those they weren’t my favorite. My favorite were those at Latourell Falls in a different part of the same gorge. As much as I loved the waterfalls there – they were not my favorite part. That was the rocks.

The rocks reminded me of the rocks that I’d only ever seen otherwise in Ireland – where there were distinct shapes and layers to them – almost like a pin-art toy. As I had the scene entirely to myself I wasn’t afraid to take my time and play with the composition. I love this image of the scene – but perhaps my favorite image came later – it was taken behind the falls looking out at the fauna of the surrounding area. That image is for sale in my print-pack here!
After I got my fill of exploring the area around the falls I began the the hike up from the base to the upper falls which was equally joyous. To see more images of the rocks you can see my Oregon based images here.
