Covers Of Strand
Continuing the trend talked about in the previous photo of the week, this shot is also from New York City. Taken a day after the previous image – I was visiting with an old college friend of mine and after coffee we wanted to go to a book-store called Strand (I wanted to visit it).
The moment you walk in the shop is wonderful. From wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling there are more books than could be read in a well-lived lifetime. This is ignoring the fact that there’s an upstairs and large basement filled with equally many books. I was in heaven.

It was in the early morning still – and the sun was rising in such a way that it was still giving nice light as it began peaking through the windows of the bookstore. By the time we reached the top-floor I couldn’t help but notice what was happening, I was ecstatic.
I walked to the far-corner of the floor and noticed the Rock Covers book – showcasing the famous Dark Side Of The Moon album cover. Not only that, but I noticed that the top shelf of the bookcase behind the book was formed the same pattern as the rainbow in the album-cover on display. I was overjoyed having noticed such a small detail of the store, and I snapped my shot.
To see more images from this trip, I’d recommend checking out the corresponding Flickr album for this visit here.
