I remember this memory well.
My friend Jon and I were hiking Lonesome Lake on the Fourth of July way back in 2020. This was right before I’d start my job, and the conditions that morning were great.
I remember that morning I woke up and felt like a ziploc bag filled with sewage run-off – and attempted to “purge” myself in a trash-can before the hike but was only able to dry-heave. When I looked up from the can, I was greeted with a stunning view of the mountains of Franconia Ridge.

Jon helped me pick up my attitude and I began the hike regardless of how poor I felt. Eventually we reached Lonesome Lake and the views were stunning. Since then I’ve visited several times and each time I’m blown away by the beauty of the area. This morning was a special one though.
After reaching the halfway point and walking around the lake I decide that it made sense for me to head home. I still was not feeling one hundred percent and I decided to head back down the mountain instead of continuing further upwards.
Once I began going back down, the fog was rolling in and it was stunning. I photographed it from every angle I could and couldn’t have been happier.
